What I like

Just to be clear as we get started, I thought I’d let you know what I really like to read.

My favorite authors are Harlan Coben, John Sandford, Lee Child, Steve Martini, Tess Gerritson, Stephen King and John Grisham.

Favorite series include: The Dark Tower series, Harry Potter, the “Prey” series, the Reacher books, the Lucas Davenport stories, the Paul Madriani series and, of course, the Myron Bolitar books.

Favorite other books: “Friday Night Lights,” “Fargo Rock City,” “Tom Sawyer” and “Freakonomics”.

Recently finished books: “The Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown, “The Associate” by John Grisham, “Blaze” by Stephen King, “Guardian of Lies” by Steve Martini, “Wicked Prey” by John Sandford.

Sounds like I only read a few authors. Not true. I’m currently reading “Exile” by Richard North Patterson and the next book on my shelf is “Trouble” by Jesse Kellerman. I picked them both up at the grocery store for $5.99 in a bargain bin.

How do I pick books? Well, usually my wife finishes them and then I read them. She reads a lot of what I read, and more. She’ll be on here soon enough, giving her side of things.

I don’t always read a book right when it comes out. I have to finish a book I’ve started, and I don’t finish a book in a day. I read at night, while falling asleep. But I read a lot. If I have two or three books in waiting, I may not get to a hot new release until those are finished. Especially since my wife usually gets first dibs on all books.

I like mystery, crime, lawyer, suspense and medical thrillers. I like a good story like Harry Potter and the Dark Tower every now and then, as well. I like to be entertained.

  1. I’m serious about this — you need to read Moneyball by Michael Lewis. It’s pretty much a cross between Friday Night Lights and Freakonomics (I haven’t read Freakonomics yet, but, um, I own it, at least). It will change the way you see baseball, and may even make you a fan again.

  2. I am so glad you did up this blog! I don’t read many of the same people you do. I actually read very few men authors. My husband says I’m sexist. lol. I just really enjoy how women write for the most part. I just finished “A Fearful Symmetry” and am currently reading “The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane”. I am a big Harry Potter fan. I’ve read all seven a million times over. I’m getting Logan my oldest into them. He loves the first two movies. I haven’t let him see the others yet. Not sure if he’s too young still. My husband and I are big book readers. Have WAY too many bookcases in our home. Can’t wait to see more of your reviews! 🙂
